• To book a tattoo appointment, you must first read and understand all my policies. When my books are open, a Tattoo Inquiry will be at the bottom of the policies page, fill out the form to the best of your ability.

Consider your Tattoo Inquiry as your consultation, please give as much detail as you think is necessary.
Once your form is submitted, my administrator, Erika will contact you within 2-3 weeks either asking for more details, more photo references or with a direct booking link to schedule your tattoo appointment. If your design was not accepted, we will let you know, so if you’re waiting on a reply from us and haven’t heard from us in over 3 weeks, double check your spam folder before reaching out again at booking@kaypokes.com!

Appointments are available Tuesday and Thursday 12:30pm - 6pm and Wednesday, Friday and every other Saturday from 11am to 5pm.

  • All consultations are done via email with my administrator, Erika! We ask that you put all design details in your Tattoo Inquiry Form and have photo references ready to send to us so I know exactly what you are expecting your tattoo to look like!

In some cases, I will offer to book a free 30 minute in-person consultation with folks getting large or complicated pieces, or folks who are nervous, hesitant or curious about specific processes. I ask that clients have all their references ready for their in-person consultation appointment.

I will always have a little extra time booked so we can make any changes to the design if necessary, so if you are unhappy with the design I can make small changes then! Keep in mind that any big changes are subject to a $50 re-drawing fee and in some cases, might have to be rescheduled, so please give us all the details in your Tattoo Inquiry Form so I can get it right the first time!

  • Once your tattoo idea is accepted, you will receive an email with a link to book your tattoo appointment. This is not an appointment for a consultation, all consultations are done via your Tattoo Inquiry and email.

Follow the link and you will be brought to my booking portal where you can view a calendar displaying all available appointment options. Once you’ve selected a date and time for your tattoo, you will be prompted to enter your name, phone number and email address. You will also need to read through and agree with all the Tattoo Policies & Conditions and fill out a Tattoo Booking Form.

Once submitted, you will be prompted to pay for your deposit (for more information on deposits, please read through my policies page). You will be asked to enter your credit card information in order to pay for your deposit. Select “Pay & Confirm” to confirm your payment and appointment. All payments are secure and processed through Square. Your personal information will never be sold or shared.

You will receive an email once your deposit and forms have been submitted, listing the details of your appointment, and now you’re all booked in! All that’s left to do is wait patiently for tattoo day :)

  • Pre-drawn flash designs are priced at a flat rate+ $30 supply fee + tax. If changes are made to the design, the hourly rate will be charged instead, unless otherwise stated.

My current hourly rate is $175 per hour + $30 supply fee + tax.

My hourly rate when travelling is $185 per hour + $30 supply fee + tax.

Freehand tattoos are an additional $75/hr. while drawing the stencil. This rate is also applied if the stencil application takes longer than 30 minutes.

The hourly rate starts when the freehand drawing, stencil application or tattoo starts, not when you arrive at the studio.

My minimum charge is the price of one hour, so if you’re looking to get a small tattoo, consider getting a few tattoos in the same session!

  • If you need to reschedule your appointment with me, please contact me ASAP at booking@kaypokes.com!

All clients must reschedule at least 48 hours before their appointment or will otherwise be asked to pay another deposit in order to rebook another tattoo appointment and may only rebook one time.

  • Unfortunately, we feel the cons out-weight the pros when it comes to numbing cream and there are a few reasons why we ask you not to use it before your appointment:

    1. Numbing cream can cause lidocaine poisoning and nerve damage

    2. It reduces blood flow to the area, making it harder to heal

    3. It changes the texture of the skin, making it rubbery, difficult to tattoo and harder for the skin to take the ink

    4. It usually only lasts for around an hour and once it wears off, the pain hits you all at once

    5. It is finicky and must be applied correctly for it to work and even then, a lot of the time, it doesn’t

    6. It’s expensive for how much product is needed

This is based on my own experience using numbing cream and the experience of others in the industry and there is not enough evidence to ensure that it is safe to use. I can use a numbing spray during your appointment that can be applied once the skin is broken and helps reduce pain and swelling.

  • Freehand designs are drawn directly on the skin at the time of the appointment as opposed to being applied with a stencil. This is ideal for floral pieces or designs that flow with the curves of the body.

Depending on the subject matter and placement, I may use a stencil over freehanding the design or a combination of both.

Freehand tattoos have a $70/hr fee to compensate the drawing time. This rate only applies to when I am drawing the design on you!

  • Wear clothing that you won’t mind (potentially) getting ink stains on! Your clothing should be comfortable, preferably loose-fitting, and should provide easy access to the area being tattooed. Here are my recommendations for folks getting tattoos in tricky areas:

    • swim suit bottoms that tie up on the sides for hip tattoos

    • loose sweatpants or gym shorts for leg and hip tattoos

    • button up shirts or zip up hoodies for torso tattoos, can also be worn backwards for back tattoos

I also recommend wearing layers as it is common for your body temperature to fluctuate during your tattoo!

  • I understand that filling out the Booking Form every time you make an appointment can be tedious, but it is a necessary step in ensuring that you know what is expected from you as a client, and what you can expect from me as your artist.

If you'd like to speed up the process, make an account so next time you can sign in and the form will remember your previous answers. Just remember to scan through the form to make sure all the answers are still correct and apply to you!

  • There could be several reasons why I would decline a client’s tattoo idea and it rarely has anything to do with the client and more so the subject matter or design, so do not take it personally!

Here are a few reasons why I might say no to your tattoo inquiry:

    1. The tattoo design is not my style
I am not fond of doing script; short bits of handwriting or loose script is okay but preferably no large portions of text or more rigid fonts. I tend to avoid marine/aquatic animals (with some exceptions) or other subject matter that does not reflect what is currently in my portfolio.

    2. I don’t have the skills
I want you to love your tattoo! So if an idea is presented to me and I don’t have the skill to do it well, I will pass on the tattoo. Styles like script and lettering, tribal, photo-realism and realistic portraits are not within my artistic wheelhouse.

    3. It is a style I no longer want to pursue.
Artists change and evolve all the time and as I gather new inspiration, the subject matter I am interested in has shifted! I will be accepting less floral designs to work on more abstract pieces or other forms of plant and wildlife. I appreciate your support!

  • A Colour Test is a free service I’m offering to all clients! It’s an appointment to test different colours of ink so you can see how the tattoo ink will look once it has healed. Everyone has a unique skin tone with varying melanin and undertones, so different shades of ink can vary slightly once applied to skin. The colour can also look slightly different once the tattoo has healed.
Colour Tests can be placed in an inconspicuous area if that’s preferred and the colours can be arranged in whatever pattern you’d like (dots, lines, a rainbow, etc.)

If you’d like to book a Colour Test, send me an email!

  • No, I am currently only offering machine tattoos!

  • No! I still consider myself a student to tattooing.
